Turing Machine

Let's make it clear once and for all. Turing Machine is not a real machine. There has never been a machine that was built and called Turing Machine. It is just a hypothetical machine and a thought experiment. Most of the people I know think that Turing Machine was something like a typewriter.

In simple words, Turing Machine is a mathematical computational model, proposed by Alan Turing, that actually describes any general purpose computation device which can ever be built. This includes CPUs we use today. I will describe not that strip example, but the real meaning.

It describes a computation machine (such as processors) that computes an output using predefined rules and an input, for all kinds of computations. It is not very difficult to understand because today our computers do everything with predefined rules and some information coming from memory.
